A distinguished engraver and early member of the group of seven. Gagnion is known for his landscape paintings of the Laurentian mountains. He invented a new style of winter scene composition that consisted of mountain peaks and low lying valleys. His lines appear to move, depicting life in Quebec at the turn of the last century.
