Rhyn, a student of the fine arts institute in Paris, had a solid foundation in drawing and plain air painting. In the 1960's however, the artistic trend was more into creating abstraction. He took on the challenge and created this work. This piece is not totally abstract; it displays a fall scene, where yellow orange leaves have found themselves on the ground. Contrasting the colour of the warm leaves, the grass is depicted as a cold viridian green, something reminiscent of Gaugin.
