In my career and while studying medicine, my intention was to also attempt to become a sculptor. Circumstances however led me to take up painting and art history instead, studying under professor George Galavaris at McGill.
At the same time, a local artist friend, Mr. Guy Valmont, introduced me to the Montreal Arts Club. There I met a towering figure in Canadian painting, Mr. Adam Sheriff Scott. Mr. Scott’s teachings led to a total metamorphosis of my soul as I started to see using the eyes of a painter. Through his mentorship, my perspective of the world totally changed influencing all aspects of my life including my daily work and in my human interactions as a physician.
Another of his students the brilliant and explosive artist, Armand Tatossian became my close associate, brother, fellow painter, teacher and inseparable friend. Armand and I studied drawing in France and Italy We followed the paths of the impressionist school and spent months painting in Barbizon outside of Paris The Greek islands intrigued us and taught how to play with light reflecting on white surfaces much like the snow we knew back in Canada. In the winter we would travel to the Caribbean painting boats sunsets and seascapes often reporting to our teacher Adam Sheriff Scott
For a number of years now, our group was searching to find a venue in order to establish a much-needed institution in Downtown Montréal. The idea was to create a private type museum which unlike other museums would focus on art appreciation and in particular twentieth century paintings and fine art. The physical space required however was very difficult to find and the project lingered on. Then as though struck by lightening the world suddenly changed. So did our social and private habits and way of daily living, hence, my initiative to create and incubateArtworkXchange.org as an Art platform for the seasoned and upcoming artists to utilize for their respective purposes, and for ALL to not only appreciate, but have a platform to expand their horizons and speculate, relative to desired milestones.
With our new status quo, our group took a major decision. We would build our museum as soon as we could not in a physical but in a virtual manner. We decided to assemble our artworks on line and to hang them on virtual walls resembling real life by accessing the latest interactive technology. Needless to say, ArtworkXchange.orghas become an instant success...
Our “Raison D'être” is, not to compete with the plethora of serious and well established commercial online galleries, but to be different. We want our members, and the public at large, to enjoy our online museum, to browse through and to smile. We want people to wander at their own leisure through the various showrooms and to experience art exhibits as they would in a real-life venue, discovering old previously unseen works or meeting high quality new talent.
Artwork Xchange has officially launched its internet platform in its distinct Web Portal. Artwork Xchange is a vibrant internet platform facilitating the exchange of concepts and ideas in the exciting realm of fine art. Apart from the museum and permanent exhibition of recognized names its goal is also to promote upcoming artists. It offers the user an easy means to enjoy and or acquire paintings which resonate with energy and vigour. Exquisite works of art are presented in a well-designed virtual platform for one's viewing pleasure as well as a means of facilitating buy-sell opportunities with the following attributes:
Virtual museum/art gallery to expose, with no obligation a variety of beautiful art previously seen and unseen. Special emphasis on Canadian twentieth century paintings: Canadian artists continue to produce works of value often inspired by Canada’s stunning imagery and wilderness. After the group of seven paintings from Canada have become very popular and with vigour, they hit the international scene (market).
Promotes young artists to conduct via its regular virtual gallery unique solo shows or to sell individual pieces of their work on a commission basis.
Moreover, for the seasoned collector the platform offers a virgin market for acquiring works not yet exposed to the market or a platform for exchanging paintings with others members of our portal.
Here, at the Artwork Xchange web portal, we will exchange ideas and interact with art lovers, seasoned professional art connoisseurs, or brand-new novices.
Having introduced the mission and ethos of Artwork Xchange, it is my sincere wish and hope that you come join us and experience the buzz and exhilaration of seeing art at its best, in this state-of-the-art museum-gallery!
