In this plain air painting, Rhyn depicts a country scene that looks somewhat gloomy. There must have been a heavy snowfall, as the barn roofs are bent and twisted, while the fence is hardly standing. The trees look shaken up, as well, bent and with broken branches. Hope, however, is on the way, as the grass has lifted its head above the ground and, spring is in the air.
